What We Play

CCM Flashback plays the songs that you can't hear on the radio any longer.  Contemporary Christian music from the 70s and 80s.

The 70s was the wild west of Christian music.  The people who were recording contemporary music with a Gospel message were considered renegades by many people.  Though they proudly adopted the terms "Jesus Music" and "Jesus Freaks", those did not start as terms of endearment.

The 80s (and even the late 70s) saw more acceptance of CCM by churches, though it was still a touchy subject.  Record Labels also started taking it more seriously developing the acts that would become synonymous with the music.  Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith & Steven Curtis Chapman.

I don't hate today's Christian music.  I enjoy most of it.  However, sometimes you just want to hear those old songs.  Everyone seems to have it's own memory and meaning attached.  And twenty or thirty years later, you can still sing along with every word.

CCM Flashback is meant to be a celebration of the music and artist that took many of us through our formative years.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
